And the timeless classic A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens, published six years into Queen Victoria’s 64-year reign, gives us a delightful glimpse into a Victorian “office” party:
“There were more dances, and there were forfeits, and more dances, and there was cake, and there was Negus, and there was a great piece of Cold Roast, and there was a great piece of Cold Boiled, and there were mince-pies, and plenty of beer.”
It appears that Ebenezer Scrooge’s old boss, Mr. Fezziwig, knew how to throw a Christmas party!
