While making the video about our Fundemonium Gift Registry I mentioned getting a model car that reminded me of the first model that I built. It got me thinking about the important and long lasting role that some gifts play in our lives.

The model I remembered was a gift from my dad when I was in elementary school; we built it together. It was a 1/32 scale kit of a 1957 Chevy ragtop. I painted it teal blue with a white interior. I have no pictures of that model but after more than 50 years I can still see it vividly.

Looking back, that gift set me on a life path greatly influenced by scale models. I avidly built models through high school, building models and dioramas whenever possible for school projects. I studied architecture in college and became an architect partly because of my passion for building models. When I got too deep into high-tech and wanted to change careers to something fun I opened Fundemonium so I could help other people play with models every day.

I bet my dad had no idea that his gift of a model car and his time spent with me to build it would have such an effect. The memory of that gift keeps coming back to me and it has affected many of the life decisions that I have made.

At Fundemonium we want to help you find that perfect gift for the people in your life.
