In the world of movies and Hollywood, some films have a short shelf life, while others tend to live on for decades. And then there are those who many feel should have died an early death but somehow managed to come back and are still more popular than ever.

The original movie Hocus Pocus is one of those films.

Released in 1993, the Disney live-action film did not do as well as hoped initially and was, by some accounts, something of a box office failure. However, since that time, the movie has attracted a wide following largely because it is shown on television during the Halloween season.

As a result, according to Comicbook.com,

“Disney announced that a sequel will be released this year. Hocus Pocus 2 will bring back Midler, Najimy, and Parker, along with Doug Jones, who played a zombified ex-boyfriend of the witches in the original movie. Hocus Pocus 2 is due to come out on Disney+ on September 30, 2022.”

And, as if that were not exciting enough for diehard Hocus Pocus fans, it gets even better.

Hocus Pocus 2 Also Means a New Game is Afoot

With the same beloved Hocus Pocus cast and the Hocus Pocus release date just around the corner, there’s something else in the wings: a Hocus Pocus game “sequel” coming soon.

The folks at Funko have announced that a new game, Hocus Pocus: Tricks & Wits, will be released this fall.

And, of course, the original game is as popular today as it was after its original release over two years ago in July 2020. And playing the game is just as fun today as it was when it first came out. But soon, the fun is about to double!

Until the new game makes its way to the shelves at Fundemonium, you can still jump into the “Fantasmic” fun of the original Hocus Pocus – The Game.

And it’s a perfect game for Halloween – and any other game night. As the game makers describe it,

“The Black Flame Candle has been lit.

Now the Sanderson witches you must outwit;

Or with a wretched evil potion,

A foul spell they’ll set in motion.

Stun the witches and ruin the brew

Before the sun can rise anew!

Work together to stop the Sanderson sisters from draining the lives of Salem’s children by ruining their potion before the sun rises!”

There’s Something Magical About Game Night with Witches – and Family and FriendsHow to Play the Hocus Pocus Game

Fall doesn’t officially begin until September 22, but family game nights can also be a great way to spend late summer evenings. And Fundemonium is just the place to stock up on the latest and best in board games, strategy games, and even popular role-playing games, or RPGs.

In addition to the quite popular Hocus Pocus board game, Sonoma County kids and families flock to pick up the latest in the EXIT: The Game releases, a series of escape room games for the home, as well as expansion sets for games such as Catan, Ticket to Ride, Star Wars™: Legion, and others.

Family game night can be fun, frolicking, and frenetic – like an evening of Throw Thow Burrito – or more contemplative and serious with games such as Wingspan or Pandemic. So, no matter your taste or your gameplay style and preferences, you can be sure to find what you need at Fundemonium in Rohnert Park.

And playing games is healthy, as well.

“There is something about the co-location of physical items, sitting across from each other at a table, sharing pizza, that playing with digital board games online simply does not replace.” — Brian Magerko, digital-media professor at Georgia Tech

One source has determined that playing board games provides social, mental, and emotional benefits:
