At Fundemonium we remember a time in America when adults routinely gathered together at one another’s homes in the evenings for several rounds of card games.

For example, in the 1950s (We know – that’s way back!) popular pastimes for children included outdoor games, board games and card games. Their parents, however, were known for enjoying a weekly card party.

In fact, there are many older adults today who still remember seeing their folks sitting down with other adults almost every week and playing card games. The popular games of the day included Canasta, Rummy, Hearts, Poker, Whist, Bridge, Euchre, Pinochle, and Tripoley.

In fact, Canasta, a game of the Rummy family, was the most popular American game in the early 1950s.

Today, not so much.

Generally speaking, weekly get-togethers with friends over a deck of cards or a game board has fallen out of favor. Blame T.V., video games, or coronavirus – it doesn’t much matter. The point is that a truly fun, enjoyable, and socially rich pastime has been largely lost.

Except here at Fundemonium!

Our Weekly Events: Oh, the Fun You Can Have!

At Fundemonium, we work hard to keep our Weekly Events going and safe. While we continue to be highly cognizant of the prevailing protocols for the continuing coronavirus outbreak, we also do our best to ensure that our weekly events continue to take place.

Fun and safe are essential aspects of our company’s mission, so our coronavirus precautions are a natural extension of that.

That being said, let’s take a look at the fabulously fun Weekly Events hosted at Fundemonium.

Dungeons & Dragons Adventurer’s LeagueFundemonium Dungeon and Dragons Events

Older kids can join us for our ongoing 5th edition Dungeons & Dragons in Rohnert Park.

We typically have two tables set up, with one hosting an ongoing hardcover campaign and the other playing Tier 1 Adventurer’s League modules. But we always have room for new players! And these events are open to players of all ages and experiences.

By the way, more DMs (Dungeon Masters for the uninitiated…) are always needed.

And please note that D.M.s and players will need to be fully vaccinated to play. So, make sure to bring your vaccination card to the first session, and wearing a mask is optional while playing at the table.

How much, you ask? Admission to play will be $5 in store credit per person, which you can spend in-store on items or drinks. Players can bring water, but other outside food and drinks are not allowed. And D.M.s do not have to pay an admission fee for running games!

[Sign up on Warhorn for games, we will not be accepting drop-ins, and the Warhorn sign-ups will close at noon the day of.]

Magic the Gathering Friday Nights

You can also join other Magic the Gathering players at Fundemonium for casual gameplay every Friday night. The common play format for Magic the Gathering is Standard and Commander.

If you’re unsure, the official website explains these formats as thus:

Standard is a dynamic format where you build decks and play using cards in your collection from recently released Magic sets. Evolving gameplay and fresh strategies make it one of the most fun and popular ways to play Magic.

Commander is an exciting, unique way to play Magic that is all about awesome legendary creatures, big plays, and battling your friends in epic multiplayer games! In Commander, each player chooses a legendary creature as the commander of their deck. They then play with a 99-card deck that contains only cards of their commander’s colors.”

If these appeal to you, play starts at 6:00 pm and goes until 9:00 pm. Our player fee is $5, which includes a $5 Store Credit to be used that evening.

International Plastic Modelers’ Society Meeting

Everyone has fun in different ways, with different things.

Members of the International Plastic Modelers‘ Society (IPMS) have their fun meeting together to talk about building scale models. The club only meets on the first Monday of each month from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm but is well worth the wait!

Our plastic modeler’s club presents new kit and model contest information, model making how-to demonstrations, and club members “show-and-tells” at each meeting. While members enjoy all subjects of scale models, they hold a special interest in military models.

The event fee is $5 per person and includes a $5 credit to be used that evening.

Friday Night 1RC Oval Racing

Okay, we know – our Friday nights here are pretty wild. And if you want even more (unpredictable) racecar action, come in for our Friday night 1RC Oval Racing.

These fast and exciting race cars are designed and built to look like the real racing cars that race the dirt and oval asphalt racetracks around the U.S.

The event is limited to drivers of 1RC Oval Racing car models.

  • $10 per driver casual run.
  • $15 per driver for timed racing.
  • We have cars and parts in stock.

Make Fundemonium Your Weekly Destination for Fun and Making New Friends

You’ll find several fun, interesting, and engaging events, activities, and… well, just fun things to do and see. And at Fundemonium, our events are designed for kids of all ages.

Toy stores are usually known just for their inventory. Not at Fundemonium.

However, we D.O. have a funtastic inventory of many fun and award-winning toys, games, hobby items, and more that has made us the “go-to” hobby shop and toy store in Sonoma County. In addition to all those fun things, we have a large selection of STEM products to help kids learn about natural sciences, robotics, electronics, rocketry, and other fascinating fields.

As we are fond of saying, Fundemonium is more than a store – it’s also a fun family experience where families and friends can meet and explore all the fun toys, games, and events, we are proud to offer.

Fundemonium is also a safe and friendly place where adults and children of all ages can enjoy creative fun by offering a great selection of science kits, games, toys, and hobby products for your entire family.

And you can be sure that our friendly and knowledgeable staff is quite serious about helping you and your kids have fun!

We always do our best to quickly respond to website inquiries about our events (and fun stuff!), or you can also find answers to your questions by calling us at (707) 540-0701.

Just give us a call during our business hours if you’d like to speak directly with one of our Fundemoniacs.
